it creates a sideload force on the wristpin bearing. Granted, if you are only talking about a few thousandths of an inch of 'out of spec' tolerance, its negligible. This clearance is nothing near as important as something like rod bearing tolerance, or piston->bore tolerance or ring gap tolerance. If aftermarket rods are slightly smaller than stock (and I mean no more than 10 thousandths or so, I wouldn't concern myself with it. The wristpin bearings are prety damn broad and they wont be your failure in the long run.
